Making sculptures from found, recycled or used objects teaches myself and my viewers to look at the world in a different way. Objects that are previously regarded as a functional object are transformed into a thing of beauty. An object is reduced to shapes that make up the piece of art. For example, a spoon becomes an oval attached to a rectangle that make up a torso and head of a human figure. These materials teach us to see objects beyond their purpose looking into their shape and materials.
Furthermore, using these objects in many cases keeps them out of landfills, helping to keep the earth a little greener for us all.
